A gate motor is an electromechanical device designed to automatically open and close access points like driveway, pedestrian, or industrial gates. It eliminates the need to manually push heavy gates by providing consistent, powered movement triggered by a remote control, keypad, or smart device.
How They Work
When the motor receives an access signal, it uses electrical power to smoothly move the gate along a track or pivot on its hinges. The two most common types of gates require slightly different motor mechanisms:
- Sliding Gate Motors: These motors use a gear system (like a rack and pinion) that meshes with a toothed rail installed along the length of the gate, sliding it horizontally across the opening.
- Swing Gate Motors: These operate using a mechanical arm or hydraulic system attached to the gate post and the gate panel itself, allowing the panels to push inward or outward in an arc.
